Jennifer,
Flippa might be ok but be sure to avoid anything "autoblog". The dog niche is a fine one but you need to have a site with a solid profit strategy and one that has a unique angle. I try to avoid cross-promoting but you would probably be a great fit for a site at DuuG website (which is one of my services). Either way, good luck and thanks for stopping by -- and, if you decide to try a Flippa site you can always ask about it here before you buy it. GOOD LUCK!

Hi,
Am very new to internet marketing and not IT savy. Dogs are my passion and wanted to start a Dog Niche, thought of purchasing one in Flippa but not sure if i will get scam.
Please help me how to know they are legitimate as i want to make it as a full time income to feed my 3 adopted dogs.
Thanks

You couldn't be more right, Chris.
Unfortunately, newbie webmasters get persuaded by all the pretty colours and a snazzy design. If they've played around with a bit of design themselves they appreciate how difficult it is to put together a quality looking site. What they fail to understand is that the pretty designs they see on starter sites in Flippa weren't really created specifically for them. Oft times it's just a free template downloaded from somewhere else - something the buyer could have done himself for $0.

I started reading your post a little annoyed and defensive....sure there are bad opportunities but the good ones do come to more than 10%.
But having read more, I further understood what you meant and feel inclined to agree - strongly. Autoblogging is to an extent destroying the opportunity that exists for us to generate a credible industry.
We created our app purely in response to the increasing number of "less favorable" sites appearing in auctions. Without some form of natural correction, new people to the industry will inevitably be put off from what seems like a lack of quality.
Anyone selling starter sites on Flippa would have noticed a ~40% drop in overall category sales in the last 10 days - maybe it's started already!
All the best
